And besides. I missed escaping to the outdoors. Even the vampire needs some scenery and peace. Shadow enjoys having me around more too. I do love that fluffy boy.
I started on my new system of posting reviews here on my blog! Just see the entry below this one. I usually just post on Amazon and Goodreads (my activity on Goodreads is linked to my Twitter account as well), but the more places to share my fellow indie authors' work, the merrier. I'm still really behind on my read and review list, sadly. It's every book lover's dilemma, where more books are added to the collection than being read. So many indies to read, so many novels from a plethora of series that I've followed for years...
I'm working on it! I really am! XD
Now onto the publishing news!
I am a full month ahead of my deadline. I literally shook when I realized I was done with pretty much everything I needed to do yesterday. You see, I originally had the side job factored in, hence why I told people that I would send out MISTRESS OF BLACKWEN by the end of August. Since the whole event that caused me to have way more free time than anticipated, I got A LOT of work done since. Another special dedication is checked off, there's an acknowledgement page this time around, and now I'm just waiting to acquire my author photo. I'm really publishing book two, ahhh!!!!!
Basically, keep an eye out for December. And yes, MISTRESS OF BLACKWEN is just a bit bigger than CHILD OF BLACKWEN. We'll see what happens after the copy-editing stage of the game.
I'm also going to see if I can get an Artemis Ravenwing cosplay photo shoot before the year is over. A friend and I talked about it the other day and all I kept thinking was new promo pics and merch for the book booth next year. I've said this so much lately, but it does not make it any less true: I have so much I need to do! Ambitious stubborn masochists, unite!
I won't lie that I would love to have photo shoots in my other cosplay either, but Artemis kind of takes precedence. Even over Alucard.
My kindle beckons me. Shouldn't leave it waiting. :)
"Well, she does like to say that you're drenched in arrogance."
C.K. Dawn brings us into the world of Lourdes Reese and Abigail Thorne, a hunter and apprentice in the King's Court. Everything we know about the legends of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table is a lie; dark creatures lurk in the shadows (netherwalkers) and the hunters throughout the ages descended from the first Knights fight them. There are Courts all over the world and Lourdes and Abbey serve in the one located in New York.
Lourdes has a reputation nothing short of legendary; she is the only hunter known to create multiple orbs at once, a trait even she cannot fathom why or how. Abbey adores her mentor and strives for nothing but perfection, though she does fall prey now and then to caffeine highs, a teenage girl's mindset about attractive guys, and the wonders of gaming and Star Wars. Both characters are so relatable that one does not wish to stop following their adventures, whether if it involves Lourdes' wonderful battle of wits with Temple or Abbey's need to be stylish (steampunk influences for the win!) or to collect weapons in shades of pink.
When I realized I was nearly done with the book, I found myself going, "No, I still need answers! This can't end yet!" Fans of YA paranormal fantasy tales will enjoy this, especially if one enjoys twists on Arthurian myths and legends. Also, if you're a nerd like I am, you'll enjoy the gaming references as well.
Rating: 5 stars

This is probably the longest I have gone without updating here and I feel a bit ashamed. Time did get away from me. The side job took a lot away from me too.
Speaking of which, I no longer have the side job. Long story short, I ultimately had to decide to choose between uncontrolled chaos and peace...and sorry, but the career will always win. The kitsune tattoo on my wrist painting the kanji for "dream" serves as a reminder to never forget what is really important and the dream to have writing be the sole job is pretty much what I live for. I regret nothing.
I am looking for another side job though, one that really won't interfere so much. And truth be told, I do miss a ton of people from my former job.
I also need the side job to help me with my Comic Con adventures (and the dreaded school loans, ugh). I still want that book booth next year. Plus I truly enjoy dressing up as my favorite characters, whether I've created them or not. I'm nearly done with the prep for Santa Fe Comic Con in October! There's a little bit of tweaking left to do on my fem Alucard cosplay and I also need to acquire a certain prop for him. Artemis Ravenwing will be back out too! The only difference will be the sai this time; I'll be using the leafy "jeweled" ones. I do have to patch up the first set from when I used them at Denver Comic Con, but I'm in no terrible rush at the moment. I'm also more ahead of my fem Yoko Kurama cosplay for next year than I expected, so that's exciting. Just some tweaking on the outfit, the acquisition of the silver wig, and the creation of the tail. Have to get some shoes too for the wonderful spirit fox, but that's not going to be very hard. In the meantime, enjoy a teaser of my fem Alucard:
For those who don't know, I used to dye my hair black. I did that A LOT. As much as I enjoy my natural blonde, there are days where I think about the raven locks. Yay for wigs to help squash the urges to go back. XD
In other news, I've been working like a madwoman on my end-of-August deadline for the publishing of MISTRESS OF BLACKWEN! Out in December, by the way. A more definitive date will be announced as the publishing process goes on. I'm still in phase one of my deadline work, but I foresee it being done by mid next week (yay for extra free time!). And I am getting my author photo taken today too! Maybe some ravens will sneak in them. It'd be appropriate, no? :) Then after all of that, I have to reformat the manuscript to mirror the first novel (CHILD OF BLACKWEN to you newcomers!) while inputting my dedication and acknowledgement pages. I had this dedication planned for a long time like the one from book one. I think the smiles will continue. :)
I also discovered something fantastic that can happen in December after I publish book two of the Artemis Ravenwing novels, but I cannot elaborate on it just yet. Yay suspense!
There's some plans to make bookmarks for book two as well. One thing at a time, I know. I have SO many plans...
Besides doing my usual bit of writing, editing and marketing, I decided that I'll be posting my book reviews on here too. I usually just do so on Amazon and Goodreads, but I think one more outlet to help my fellow indie authors would be awesome. Here's to #indielove!
Now, it's time to work. Updates soon!
